Ok, im getting a new computer for $500, its a dell inspiron 531. I also have a dell dimension 5100 with 2.5 GB RAM and a EVGA Geforce 8600 gt 512mb video card. So, i dont know much about the pc yet, but its pretty much gonna be for gaming. So i plan on putting in the 8600 gt into the new pc until i get a better card. Also, is my dell dimension RAM compatible with the new inspiron? If not, doesnt matter, it comes with 4GB RAM Next, what do i need to upgrade to be able to play most new pc games? I plan on getting a core 2 quad for it. Then later a GTX 260 video card. Will that be enough for gta4 and crysis and such? Also how much will a GTX 260 and a quad core cost? Links to newegg or wherever you know of a great deal would be great. I also suspect i will need a bigger power supply,so what do u guys think i will need? Then, what kind of cooling will i need and how much? Then, i will have a good pc finally and i will JIZZ IN MY PANTS! Thanks in advance!

first off if you had a lil info on building pc you could build a better pc for cheaper if you plan on only spending 500 you could get a phenom II 940 BE $225 and a decent mobo $70-$120 with 4gb 1066 ram for 40$
160gb hd for $41 only thing i would suggest if you did get the 260 you will probally need to upgrade your powersupply and that will run you about $50+ for a stable 1

I already know about alienware but I want to be different. I want to customize it on my own.

Well, first off, you can work anywhere that will let you work after school. Most people your age work in restaurants, stores, Blockbuster, etc.

Don’t start asking dumb questions immediately. Just read the forums for a few weeks, you’d be surprised at what you’ll learn. Then, when you ask a question, it will make alot more sense and you’ll be able to understand the answers, since you’ll use and understand the correct terms. Good luck, I was where you are, in 1990, but I didn’t have the internet to help me out!

I am planning on purchasing a new PC within the next 3 months. I am not a hardcore gamer, but I’m tired of my mediocre machine not being able to play some of the newer games that are available today. I’d like to spend no more than $1,000. Please "build" me a PC by recommending (listing) all the components I would need so I have a decent gaming PC under $1,000. Thanks!

if your wanting to go for a gaming computer for under a thousand dollars its not going to be that easy. I made a gaming computer just over 1,400 dollars

AMD or Intel?

I’m Planning on finding the Processor, finding a Motherboard and then Graphics Card, Power Supply and than Last but not least Case

cheap and good don’t really go together in the pc world….but there is a great AMD cpu that is cheap…the Phenom II x2 550BE…..its only 99.00 bux…..it has 1mb of l2 cache and 6mb of l3 cache running at 3.1ghz……..its a great overclocker as well…..AM3 80w tdp…..

if you wanna go with a quad core the Phenom II x4 955BE is excellent also for the money….im running it now overclocked to 3.8ghz with a 4870 and play games on all high….play grid on ultra high….so you might wanna check out those 2 pc’s of hardware…

also make sure you get a good brand name power supply….i prefer ocz,corsair,antec,enermax and silverstone……gigabyte motherboards are also very good….might wanna check them out to….cases, the antec 300,900,902 and the 1200 are very good with great airflow….the haf 922 is a great case also…..

Go buy oe of the computer magazines … thre are 3 main ones available .. at least one of those will have an article on best value PC’s or Gaming PC’s … they will also have the links to where you can purchase the computer

Hey, I want to buy custom parts for a new computer starting from scratch. The problem is that have no clue what parts to choose! I am willing to spend about 1,500$ on it. I already have a Monitor, keyboard, speakers, mouse, etc. All i need help with is a cool case and gaming parts.
