Im having a freind build me a Desktop gaming computer since my old dell that i was fine with broke down, over payed for it, 600 bucks 2 years ago, ripped off by a local computer store and im not sure why i bought it lol, Can anyone here give me links to a bunch of parts i can buy off a site or from a store? Main things i want is a desktop that i will never have a issue with, with main specs that include, 1tb harddrive, Possibly ati radeon 5970 4g or 2g if thats too much, or if you guys think its better, ati radeon 5870 crossfire (dual 2 cards) and at least 12g of ram, My main computer was a old 2004 dell laptop with 149gb harddrive and quadro fx 1400 lol.. ide like to run everything at max probely a few years into the future like 2015?
if anyone deicides to help, Go ahead and go a few `100 dollars over like 1700 Max on the dollars since i dont feel like putting alot of my new car money on a desktop computer although i would be using it Alot
Links and possibly a small reason why you recomend, Thanks!
I intend to mostly use New egg, unless theres better els where like fryz located in oregon.
Havent been to Impressed by Geforce latley, Though if you guys can provide links to bench marks if you end up recomending a geforce card(s) would be appreciated but from what ive seen the ati radeon cards look better
(This will be in a full case, already picked it out but if u have one u like feel free to link it)
Thanks for the comments so far, Not sure on the monitor, i have a couple lcd dell monitors 19-22 in in size, I like that kingston stats, 1800mhz 6gb, might go for 8 if its not one of thows strict kits where you cant add more, + That would leave alot more money for a graghics card. Also i do intend to buy a new screen, no point in having some half decade old lcd screens with a bomb computer right lol, If you guys got any recomendations throw em at me, looking for 160 or lower on the screen, probely around 120 unless it has some amazing specs like 2ms, anyone els with hardware recomendations please tell
Thanks for the info guys im loving this information, so much to choose from and then so many ways to go like the comment bellow (2 of the older radeons have the same or higher power of 1 5970, and the higher mhz ram sticks when i was considering cheaper 12 sticks with less mhz that would be kind of a waist of budjet.. reading what you guys have put down after im done typing this.
Why not just use a site like iBuypower. I did. They sent me the CDs and Boxes for some of my parts.
Right now I wouldn’t bother getting more then 6 gigs of memory. I run more then one game at a time and still I don’t use 6 gigs of memory. I was reading junk and the Nvidia Geforce have been sucking because their company has been busy working on stupid things and junk for other companies. So Ati Radeon comes out better, with more compatible cards, and with great improvements and moves in the right direction for technology.
You’ll have to research the Motherboards to make sure they will upgrade to 24 gigs ram in the future. You will want to have cooling systems for your Graphics/Video card and your Processor. Make sure the case is well ventilated with alot of air flow ( good and many fans). If you decide to get the V8 for your Processor.. it’s very big so you won’t be able to have a fan on the side and you will need a big case ( the companies don’t communicate with you).

I’d try to get a Quad Core or Oct Core i5 or i7 because they can handle DDR5 Graphics/Video cards just fine.
You won’t get 5 years use out of your computer if you are a heavy gamer. If you don’t cool the thing properly then it will die out in months. If you don’t put alot of effort into cooling your computer and aren’t a heavy gamer then you might get a couple years. I’d expect atleast three years if you do proper cooling. 5 Years if you don’t mind replacing parts as they go bad a couple of times. Like I said, make sure you can get the RAM to atleast 24 gigs one day, though, on the Motherboard. You never know when the Memory required will suddenly shoot up with Computers, Software, and OS.
